SOTW: The Truth / Handsome Boy Modeling School

Under the category of super chill, but with a twist of hip hop and blues, The Truth is the kind of song that gives me visions of a underground club, with dreadlocked patrons, sipping on cognac, discussing politics and local events, enjoying and waiting on their own turns to get up on stage for some spoken-word poetry, or amateur freestyle rap; the kind of non mainstream kind of place advertised only on flyers and word-of-mouth, you know, where the cool kids hang out! This song has that kind of vibe.

Handsome Boy Modeling School was an experimental, collaboration between Dan the Automater and Prince Paul who put out the gorgeous album "So...How's Your Girl" in 1999. They had a follow-up album, "White People", which was even better that the first. Sadly, the duo disbanded in 2006. But The Truth is just one many great tracks from their discography.

Check it out for yourself.
